In Northern Thailand, small villages have traditionally relied on farming as their primary source of income. However, the demands of modern life have made it difficult to sustain a sufficient livelihood through farming alone. Weaving hammocks has become a means for these disadvantaged individuals to earn additional income, providing them with fair pay and the freedom to work at their own pace and on their own terms. By supporting our hammocks, you contribute to this empowering cycle and help uplift these communities.

Each weaver is responsible for their own supplies and setup, allowing for individual creativity and imagination to flourish. The result is a collection of hammocks with the most unique designs and captivating color combinations imaginable. So, as you relax in your hammock, take joy in knowing that your purchase contributes to the well-being of others.

Each Thai Sitting Hammock undergoes a dedicated weaving process that takes over a week to complete, resulting in exceptional craftsmanship. The intricate designs and vibrant color combinations make our hammocks truly one-of-a-kind, setting them apart from any other hammocks in the world.

With a hanging distance of approximately 3-5 ft and a weight support of 300 lbs, our hammocks are designed for convenience and durability. They weigh just a little over 1 lb, making them lightweight and compact enough to accompany you on your travels, to the beach, or even for camping adventures. Our Company...
The quality begins with the thread used to weave the hammocks. We are working with a family that, for the past 35 years, has been manufacturing the strings used by the Mayans who weave the hammocks. They are responsible for approximately 3-5 miles of string used in each hammock. That being said, there is no other company in the market that has this degree of quality control.

From the factory the string goes to over 500 families in the Yucatan country-side who carry out the hand weaving process. Working with many of the same families for several generations, each earning a fair wage while keeping their tradition alive. When the weaving is complete (3-5 days, depending on the size) the hammocks are brought to the center of Merida, Mexico for a final inspection. From there they are shipped to Maui, Hawaii to be offered by Hangloose Hammocks Hawaii. From start to finish we guarantee the most ethically sourced Mayan hammocks with the highest quality and comfort available.
